The next Pinner Local History Society talk is William Heath Robinson: the Middlesex Years, 1908-1918 on Thursday 3rd October at 8pm in the Pinner Village Hall.
William Heath Robinson spent some of his most formative years locally, first in Hatch End (1908-11) and then in Pinner (1911-18). Not only was it a period when he produced some of his most famous illustrations and humorous work, it was also a time when favourable circumstances allowed him to spend a great deal of his time with his siblings, especially his artist brothers Tom and Charles, as well as brother George and there were the many walks together exploring the, still as yet, rural Middlesex countryside. There were also the happy pub crawls organised by the brothers, eventually leading to the formation of a veritable club that was signed up to by other well know artist friends.
This talk considers how these rich Middlesex years played a significant role in the development of Will’s artistic development, whether it be in his humourist or his illustration work.
Peter is chairman of the William Heath Robinson trust and William’s great nephew.
