Despite reaching scorching temperatures it was great to see the Pinner Show so well attended. The bar and ice cream van were certainly very busy!
We certainly had a busy day on the Pinner Local History Stall. We had a great display of local historical pictures – a great mix that generated some interesting conversations.
What was particularly lovely was to see the interest of the younger generation, and parents promising to pass on stories of how their parents came to be in Pinner. Hopefully that will fire an interest in local history.
Our memory game started lots of conversations about the famous people who were born or have lived in Pinner. And plenty of you entered our competition to guess the locations of Pinner from old photographs and it certainly created a great talking point. Our lucky winner is hoping to attend our next meeting.
Many visitors took a list of our upcoming talks so we hope to see plenty of people there.
We sold several copies of ‘Ten Walks Around Pinner’ so hopefully some of you are enjoying these while the weather is ok and before the nights get too dark.
We were all very pleased that the mayor was able to share time to come and talk to us as well as having his photo taken.
Thank you to everyone that came to talk to us despite the heat, as well as the PLHS helpers that made it all possible: Phillip Snell (and his sons and grandsons), Jennie Youle, Judy Simons, David Butler, Roy Jakes and Sharon Holland.
And best of all, The Rotary Club is expecting at least £5,500 profit which will be distributed to a number of Pinner Rotary supported charities including Prostate Cancer UK.
