Many members will be aware that the Pinner Local History Society have considerable Archives in the form of original documents, pictures and articles, going back a considerable time. They fall into two main types, physical and digital.
Most of the physical Archives are currently held and managed by Pat Clarke, Head of our Research Group, in her house. Our objective is to Index the physical Archive and identify ways of making them accessible for researchers.
A subcommittee of the Research Group under Stephen Randall has been set up to produce an Index to our Archives. We made a good start on and Tuesday 21st January 2025 and will continue next week. We expect the first phase to take several weeks. Following this initial phase, we will go through the individual containers, files, boxes etc detailing their contents, this could take months. This will result in a searchable index enabling us to locate information for research.
In parallel to the indexing, we are looking for an alternative, safe place to house the Archives into the future.
Finally, it is our hope that the Index to both Physical and Digital Archives will be made available on our website providing access to our Members and the Public.
